Forrester

Did Jamal miss those 2 free throws on purpose? Why do you think so?

I dont know about the first missed free throw, but the second was purposly missed. You could tell by the way he shot the ball. He looked liked Shaq at the free throw line, he shot it with no arc or rotation.
I think that he did it because he didnt want to go to that school anymore because he was caught copying Forrester's work.

I agree with what Sachin said in his response about the free throws. It looked to me like on the second one he just missed it on purpose.
I think this because he felt like when he was caught copying Forrester's paper he let down Forrester and all the people in the stands. Most of all he let down himself.

Yea, i agree with Sachin and Cline. He missed the free throws on purpose. He made it to that school acedemically and he got caught copying Forrester's story.

I agree with what Sachin and Cline said. He let down everyone else, but mostly himself. I think the paper meant much more to him than that game ever would when it came down to it.

I thought the deal was that Forrester gave Jamal permission to use F's first few lines to get JW's mind moving in the right direction.

And I appreciate the Shaq metaphor.

I believe the first free throw was missed by mistake but the second one was missed on purpose. I believe he figured out he was being used and wanted to show them that he didnt like that and that he was there for more than just playing basketball

P.S. i keep forgeting my username and password so i had to make another profile incase you were wondering

I also aree with Sachin and Cline. I dont know that much about how to shoot a free thrown (but I do know plenty of hot cheers for em LOL) but it was really obvious that he purposly missed the second shot. I think he was feeling the pressure of using Forester's work and missing the shot would be the only way of getting out of the school for things other than his writting.

I also agree with what sachin said about the first free throw not intentionally being missed but i think that he did miss the second free throw because he didn't want to go to that school just to win the championship but to be recognized for his fantastic writing skills.

As Sachin said, I don't know if Jamal missed the first free throw on purpose, but I do beleive he missed the second on purpose. I think Jamal was being used on the basketball team. The professor even offered him a deal so he could play. I don't think that is fair, because it makes me wonder if the boy hadn't been athletic, would everything play out the same way.

Of course jamal missed those free throws on purpose. he had the right to do becuase they were using him at first just to get to the championship and he just didnt want to be there for his basket ball skills. he had a fashion for writing and they just couldnt believe "a boy from the hood" as you can say would be as dedicated to learn.

I sat here and read what everyone had to say, and we all basically agree with one another. We all believe he missed at least the second free throw on purpose. Even though it took Jamal that long to realize what they wanted him for, other than his writing skills he had, he felt while at the free throw line I think that he should show them all he wasn't there just to play basketball, he was there for way more than that.

Yes he missed that free throw. I think because they were on;y wanting him to help him get to the finals and win. But he wanted tyo be there to write and become and even better writer than he alredy was, also he could prove that he is capable of being a great writer and not just a great basketball player but could be both!

I think that he tryed to make the first free throw but he missed it unfortantly. When he looked around he noticed that the school bored was just using him and it made him mad. To get revenge on them he missed the second shot on purpose.

The school board told him that if he won the game he would be off the hook, and not in any trouble. I think he didn't want the easy way out. I think he didn't want to feel like people were giving him things, or using him for his skills. I know he had the ability to make thoe shots, but he chose not to.

yes If he is as good as the movie made him look. He missed not only the second one to make the game go into overtime, but the first one on purpose to.

I believe that Jamal missed both free throws on purpose to spite the school for using him to win the game and the english teacher for trying to have him thrown out of the school. This became evident after his teacher had put in for his expulsion, the principal said that he would be on jamal's side if jamal won the game for them. this caused jamal to realize that he was being used by the principal and that because of his english teacher, he was now held over a barrel.
